Fall is here, with the cool air and football traffic to show for it. I have a good number of important updates here.

Membership meeting and bylaws changes

Our annual membership meeting is Tuesday, September 24, 7pm, at Zingtrain. We'll share an annual financial update, club accomplishments, updates from our facilities and aircraft growth groups and recognize the hard work of those who make the club tick. And we will hold elections for several board seats: president, and two at-large directors.

We are also proposing several changes to club by-laws, which require a vote by the membership. These changes are mostly tweaking the structure of the board. We would like to change from 6 elected officers and 1 appointed treasurer to 5 elected officers, 1 appointed treasurer, and 1 appointed general manager.

As you know, we hired Bruce Williams as general manager several weeks ago. He has made a huge impact on our maintenance facilities and scheduling. We want his voice and experience on the board.

There are a handful of other minor updates, modernizing communication, and increasing the notification window for board meetings.

We're also proposing an amendment to our articles of incorporation, to better protect the club under Michigan non-profit law.

Voting and Proxy Forms

At the annual meeting, voting is open to all flying-status members with accounts in good standing. This means that your account must have a positive balance.

If you can't be present for the meeting, you can give your proxy vote to any other flying member in good standing. You can download the proxy voting form, and drop it off in the office mailbox, or email it to membership@michiganflyers.org
